Luiz Carlos de Moura Castro

    The pianist received his first piano classes from Fontainha and further by Arnaldo Estrela, in Rio de Janeiro. He graduated at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and Academia Lorenzo Fernandez, further at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Budapest. Lili Kraus by whom he had classes and who he has assisted for two years in the United States specially determined his artistic formation.. Actually he teaches at the Hartschool of Music, University of Hartford, in Connecticut, USA, and leads the Department of Music of the Escuela de Musica Juan Pedro Carrero in Barcelona, Spain. He founded in Rio de Janeiro the Brazilian Liszt Society, and organized Liszt festival in 1995, 96, 97

    The CDs of Luiz Carlos de Moura Castro includes beside important works of Brahms, Liszt and Chopin, the complete works of Alberto Ginastera as well as many other composers of Mexico, Brazil, Cuba and Argentina. He has being juror of important International Piano Competitions, and playing in France, Russia, Italy, Spain, USA and Brazil.
