CURRICULUM VITAE  

     The Pianist was born in 1957 in Curitiba, Brazil. He belongs to those Brazilian pianists whose talent was detected very soon and had determined a yearly carrier beginning. Therefore he started his public appearances at age of nine, and gave his first concert as soloist when he was fifteen years old, playing a Beethoven Concert.  After preliminary studies with his mother at age of seven, when he began his music studies, he gave his first piano recital at age of ten.  Taking classes first in Curitiba, and then later in São Paulo by Gilberto Tinnetti and Luis Thomaszéck, he won several youth piano competitions in Brazil. Specially the classes he had by Luis Thomaszéck, a former pupil of Claudio Arrau, up the age of sixteen were of most important musical influence, leading him to a new way of piano playing,  and decisive on his musical formation and development since than.

      1979, at age of twenty-one Noel Nascimento Filho  followed the invitation of Rafael de Silva, assistant of Claudio Arrau, to continue his studies with him in Munich, Germany. During a concert tour of the great master in Germany he met Claudio Arrau and played for him, who accepted the young pianist to have free classes by him.

From 1979 till 1985 he had private classes by Arrau during his tours in Europe, becoming one of those remaining pianists who had received the heritage of this piano school, which ascends to Franz Liszt.

      In the meantime he lived in Germany Noel Nascimento Filho has also concluded regular studies at the “Hochschule der Kunste” in Berlin, and at the “Hochschule fur Musik Westfallen-Lippe”, in Munster, where he had an assistant position for two years, between 1986 and 1988.

      Since 1990 the pianist lives in Brazil where he has been teaching and giving master classes for young pianists. He has  suitable and very successful activities as concert soloist as well as a recognized piano teacher, in the way of piano playing of the Piano School of Claudio Arrau and Rafael de Silva. He has been playing in several tours in festivals and recitals in Germany, Italy, Belgium and Brazil, in the last five years, and was invited to give master classes in Brazil as well as in the USA. His repertoire includes the most important piano works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Clementi, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, Mendelsohn,  Tchaikowsky, Rachmaninof, Saint-Saens, Debussy, Ravel, Fauré,  Bela-Bartók, Strawinsky, Messiaen, Charles Ives, and brasilian composers such like Brasílio Itiberê, Alberto Nepomuceno, Camargo Guarnieri, Francisco Mignone,Guerra-Peixe, Osvaldo Lacerda, Lorenzo Fernandes and Villa-Lobos.

     The concert activities of Noel Nascimento Filho lead him to play from 1994 - 1998 in cities like Berlin, Munster, Munich, Osnabruck, Rheine, Dortmund, Verona, Cremona, Brussels, as well as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, as recitalist or soloist, playing works and concerts of Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt and Brahms. He has played in Brazil as soloist of the Orquestra Sinfonica da Universidade do Paraná (for the very first time at age of fifteen), Orquestra Sinfonica de Porto Alegre, Orquestra Sinfonica de Blumenau and Munster Sinfonie Orchester in Germany.  

     To maintain the tradition of the “Piano School” of Claudio Arrau and Rafael de Silva, the pianist made a video production named “The Art of Piano – The Piano school” filming and exposing technical and philosophical problems of piano playing and interpretation, together with the pianists Wolfgang Leibnitz (one of the earliest pupils of Arrau) and Luiz de Moura Castro, of the Hartschool of Music, Connecticut, where he was invited to give master classes to piano students in 1998.
